 HALLOWEEN GAMES AND ACTIVITIES

My favorite season is almost here!! Halloween is coming and there are so many ways to take advantage of how children love this spooky time of the year to learn!  I don’t know if you are the kind of teacher who celebrates Halloween over and over (like me) but Halloween is definitely the best way to engage kids in the classroom. If you are planning to incorporate this festivity in your lesson plans, you will love my Halloween activities for the classroom.

Don’t waste any more time searching for Halloween learning activities for kids, I have made a list with the best classroom Halloween activities to have a terrific time!

Addition Game: Let’s go bowling!

When people ask me which kindergarten Halloween game is most successful with the kids, I always say one word: BOOOOOWLING!There are a lot of homemade Halloween bowling games, but the final goal of this one isn’t just to have fun, this bowling game is the perfect Halloween Math game. Your students will love this craft activity and you as a teacher will have an instructional activity ready to be used with my Halloween addition game.

First, students need to make their pins before enjoying this Halloween math game. Have your kids color and cut out the monsters. Then glue them onto large bottles and get a small ball. If you want to make the game harder, add water to the bottles. The pins will look adorable!

When they have the bowling pins ready, it’s time for the Halloween math activity! This in an addition game that works on numbers from 1 to 10. Line up the 5 monster pins and have your recording sheet ready to be used. Throw the ball and note down how many pins you knock over. Each pin is worth one point. After noting down the points, the kids solve the addition sentence. Your students will love this Halloween addition game!

Haunted House for Sale: Monsters and furniture included!

This fun Halloween writing activity will provide students with an opportunity to practice their writing skills while designing their own haunted house. This easy Halloween writing activity includes a haunted house craftivity and vocabulary cards in B&W and color versions. It is very easy to use, just download the Halloween writing activities pdf and have your kids create their own haunted houses!

In order to make this school Halloween craft, students color in the worksheet and fold it to make the haunted house. Then they color and cut out the monsters and furniture and use the ones they want. In the back part of the haunted house, kids make a list of everything you included in the haunted house. Then write a price.

Students use the vocabulary cards to complete the sentences on this writing template. We usually hang up our Halloween cutting activities for kindergarten as classroom Halloween decorations!

Halloween day writing activities! Monster Cards

This educational Halloween activity for kindergarten can be used in any grade. Kids can choose between 5 Halloween templates: a vampire, a wolfman, a mummy, a witch and a Frankenstein. To make these Halloween writing activities, kids need to color and cut out the monsters.  Then fold and glue the monsters.

These Halloween cards are the greatest way to wish friends and family a Happy Halloween.

Halloween cooking activities for the classroom

These Halloween recipes ideas are one of my favorite Halloween activities! They are not only Halloween recipes but also, they are marvelous Halloween creative writing activities. I normally use one week to make at least 5 recipes for Halloween treats, one per day so at the end of the week my students have a Halloween recipe book and they look adorable! Here you have 9 ideas for Halloween recipes. They are very simple and easy to “cook”.

I include pictures, the ingredients and the instructions for every scary Halloween recipe and I project them on the whiteboard to help kids complete the Halloween writing activities. I teach Pre-K and Kindergarten so they need a little bit of help when they write but if you teach a higher grade, they can develop the classroom Halloween food ideas on their own. My favorite Halloween recipes for kids is the Halloween Oreo dessert. They can “cook” their spiders and then write down the ingredients they used and the steps they followed. After that they can complete a “satisfaction survey” about the Halloween recipe.

Celebrate Halloween with these engaging Halloween-themed activities while having FUN during this crazy holiday!

All my best,

Ms.Herraiz
